richard d. james released this single through warp in march 1999, recorded the year prior with james handling production and engineering. the title track centers on james' own voice processed into layered vocal drones over a slow breakbeat structure, and the track includes a spiral spectrogram hidden in the final section's distortion. chris cunningham directed the ten-minute video after their come to daddy collaboration, shooting in los angeles as a parody of late-90s rap videos with a reported substantial budget that warp funded to capitalize on come to daddy's mtv rotation.
