Between the Sheets

the isley brothers released Between the Sheets on their own T-Neck imprint in april 1983 after two prior albums failed to chart. the younger tier of the group (chris jasper, ernie isley, marvin isley) handled all instrumentation and composition at bearsville studios, with some tracks originally sketched for a splinter project the trio was developing. the album came out on T-Neck, the label the brothers had founded in 1964 and relaunched through CBS distribution in the 1970s, giving them ownership of their masters during a period when most r&b acts were still locked into major-label deals.
