third studio album by OutKast, released september 29, 1998, on LaFace and Arista. the commercial success of ATLiens gave the duo a larger budget from LaFace and they self-produced the majority of the record at Bobby Brown's Bosstown Recording Studios and Doppler Studios in atlanta, stepping away from Organized Noize and working with a rotating group of live musicians who lived in the studio for weeks. after Aquemini, andré 3000, Big Boi, and Mr. DJ formalized as the production team Earthtone III and would produce roughly 80 percent of OutKast's subsequent output.
